Chelsea have given Newcastle the blues over the years

Chelsea are one of few teams to have been ever present in the Premier League and have dished out some thrashings to Newcastle United along the way.

Matches between the two sides have been rather eventful and not usually happy ones for the Magpies. Newcastle have only managed to muster up one league win at Stamford Bridge since the 1986/87 season and that came in May 2012 when Papiss Cisse scored one of the Premier League's most iconic goals as Newcastle finished above the Blues who went on to win the Champions League.

In modern football, success is arguably determined by the size of a club owner's wallet. This is something that has arguably been the case for Chelsea following their storms of success since Roman Abramovic came into Chelsea with many millions to spend. Prior to Abramovic's arrival, Chelsea had won 40% of matches against Newcastle. Since Abramovic's arrival, this has risen to 43% with St. James' Park remaining as a difficult place to travel to for the Blues having only garnered four wins from 14 league visits since Abramovic has owned the club.
