Just before the return of Premier League football, after an incredible few months of grabbing huge news for channel - Matt Ritchie, Henry Winter & Jose Enrique to name a few. The prospect of filming, editing, producing, uploading & sharing dawned on me - I needed help otherwise I was walking away. Even though I knew games were going to be played behind closed doors - previously I was having arguments with the girlfriend, the daughter was asking to see me & family were - but I was so tired after travelling, editing & going to work 11 hours the next day, it wasn't healthy. I snapped one night to the lads as the fear of going through all of that wasn't worth it, it was wrong but it was affecting my mental health, my relationships & the love I have for creating content.
Match-day's are good vs evil, the evil sets in after a game, imagine having to drive 5 hours away from home whilst doing all the editing & stopping at service stations - with zero help from anyone in our team? You can probably understand why I snapped? Getting home at 5-6am whilst others are tucked in bed by midnight. For the past 5 years, I've done all the behind the scenes stuff which the audience doesn't see. Thankfully, since the return of football - Paul for a short while organised who was helping on post match stuff but I'd like to highlight Kyle & in particular Sam who has became my right hand man. The past few weeks we have all adapted & we have had a plan. I was so relieved to have help, I can't thank Kyle enough but more so Sam for making my life easy. I wanted the team to get in to a rhythm so when we start going to games again, I wouldn't be left to do it all again. Hence the idea of a new YouTube team - separate from any social teams we have.
With next season in mind, I want a dedicated team & we are already in the process of recruiting for YouTube & a couple of skilled people to chip in on the socials, all in the aid of love talking about their own club.
Two people depart us, & for the record the real reason I believe they are. Both Paul & Kyle have done incredible work for us, Paul predominately on Facebook, hammering our page & private group. Kyle was a mixture - he loved Facebook & playing a role on YouTube. I can't thank them enough - both have decided to leave on their terms, not NFTV's. Amazing people with amazing drive.
But, Paul has said his goodbye on our Facebook page but I must set the record straight on a few things - I asked Paul to step down a few days early due to him posting more on another Facebook page than Newcastle Fans TV the past week, that makes sense for both myself & Sam to get posts regular again. Secondly he's made a remark about ads on the page - Paul gets personally paid by these posts, he's just received a payment today & another one soon off 3 Retro. Kyle on the other hand doesn't post any as it's his belief & interest not to. The rest of the money that I get goes back in to hosting the website, paying for a live streaming system & our toolkit coming soon which Premier League clubs use - that's why you may see posts about a classic shirt, a shopping post or beer, it's important for us as the channel relies on that - the same with ad revenue on YouTube.
Thirdly, the channel going in a new direction - I personally believe has nothing to do with the reason why Paul has left NFTV, Youtube is now separated from Facebook, the page was planned to be left alone with our team on YouTube focusing on that platform. A clash of personalities is the reason, we both want the best for NFTV & we kept clashing, sometimes it's healthy to improve you & others in your team but too much can become suffocating. I was at fault for a lot, but I'm owning up - I think you have to be honest with your audience. Others in the group have fell out & made up, these things happen at home, with associates & colleagues. I feel Kyle has a mixture of reasons why he is leaving the brand, he has had more of a role with YouTube than Paul, which some of the team feel Kyle will miss as he seeks a new challenge. Both will be missed, I have no issues with Paul, nor do any of the team & he's likely to come back on the channel as a guest but I needed to iron out facts what he claimed.
Some of the team are taking a relaxed approach next season & some are heavily involved, that choice was for everyone to make individually. What we do require is a team effort & six weeks a go I wanted to pack it all on, it was too much with little help on YouTube - it was a cry for help. With a new plan in place, I can see Julie & Jonny playing a bigger role now.
With our new members coming shortly & a separate team set up to help us all out. I have that buzz back which has been missing for a long time. I'm excited to use a very expensive toolkit which is our biggest ever purchase for Youtube & sharing this with the rest of the team. With our live streaming service in place to ease the strain, help on a match-day should be a lot easier to come by, next season we will have a dedicated team(s) & imagine if a takeover happens?
Thank you for supporting & the team in 2019/20, we wish both Paul & Kyle the very best, we will welcome our new members soon. See you in 2020/21.
