I have followed my beloved Newcastle for twenty plus years, I feel I have been very lucky to witness time without Mike Ashley being the owner. Freddy Shepherd and Sir John Hall putting every last penny into the club, Sir Bobby Robson's teams entertaining the Premier League in the early 2000's and playing across Europe, also being told and researching about Kevin Keegan's first spell as manager nearly winning the Premier League playing exciting attacking football that the whole football world admired - it's still talked about to this day.
I always remember the day Mike Ashley was announced as owner and thinking Shepherd's time is gone and time for some other ambitious owner to take us forward. I and most fans couldn't be wrong. Here's simply why Mike Ashley has completely destroyed the whole club. After hiring Kevin Keegan for a second spell, Ashley with his clowns trying to take the p*** out of Keegan bringing in players who were looked up on Youtube behind his back, getting the club relegated twice in a 13 year spell, trying to get the stadium name changed and that's just the start the list is endless.
Having been takeover obsessed since 2008, us Newcastle United fans don't expect to be winning titles, we just expect an owner that will put a fare chunk into the club to have some ambition like the Keegan and the Sir Bobby days. As to the question what would it mean? It would mean everything it would mean the world.
