Head to head records: Away v Man United

Two teams that were once arguably the two powerhouse teams of English football in the 1990s.

Alex Ferguson against Kevin Keegan brought famous moments on and off the pitch that have been replayed over the years and have never been forgotten. Specifically the 1995/96 season when Newcastle were 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League. Towards the end of the season, Keegan reacted angrily to comments made by Ferguson which provoked an outburst live on radio which concluded with Keegan sternly saying, "I would love it if we beat them. Love it!" Manchester United snatched the prestigious title meaning that Keegan and co. had to settle for second place.

In the early 2000s, Ferguson was still at Man United and Newcastle had Bobby Robson, two managers with great mutual respect for each other. The two teams, when pipped against each other, have provided audiences with great entertainment in the past.

The last time we did the double over Man United was back in the 1930/31 season. Victory on Boxing Day in our 80th league match at Old Trafford will see that long run finally come to an end. This was made possible thanks to Matty Longstaff's Goal of the Month winning strike on his Premier League debut back in October.
