What NUFC fans really want!

We’re all sick of the picture certain aspects of the media paint about Newcastle United fans. While respected broadcasters and journalists such as Jake Humphrey and Henry Winter “get it” notable former players and ex-pros still don’t quite understand. Many “pundits“ believe we are angry either because Steve Bruce used to manage our friends down the road, or because we aren’t challenging for the top four!

It really saddens me to see Jake Humphrey having to put former toon midfielder, Jermaine Jenas in his place. For someone who had so much potential, bought from Nottingham Forest by one of the greatest ever to walk the earth in Sir Bobby Robson, Jenas has had his fallouts with our fan base over the years. From goldfish bowl to The One Show, Jenas can now be seen introducing VT’s about the plight of Britain’s Red Squirrel community, and lambing in rural Shropshire.

The stark reality is - as we all know, is that we would be perfectly content with going through a season not having to worry about the threat of relegation, or how bad we’re going to be if we have one or two injuries in the squad. Trevor Sinclair this week admitted that Newcastle fans are educating pundits. Who would’ve thought people watching Newcastle every week for years on end, knew a thing or two about said club? Shocking!

Jamie O’Hara on TalkSport was once a Bruce apologist, claiming he was doing a great job, but now all of a sudden Newcastle are destined for the drop? The reality is we all saw this months ago, and Bruce should’ve been disposed of. But heaven forbid pundits admit they get things wrong!

Of course all the wrongdoing at Newcastle United stems from the top. Radical change will never happen until Mike Ashley finally ends his torrid tenure. But the fact is all we want is to be competitive, no excuses, and treat club legends with the respect they deserve.

Kevin Keegan should be in the stands of every home game, akin to his old rival in Manchester, Sir Alex Ferguson. Alan Shearer should have his bar back, not to mention have his statue in a far more prominent position around the stadium - it’s not like he’s the Premier League and Newcastle United’s all time record goal scorer or anything! Guys like Rob Lee, Warren Barton, and Jonas Gutierrez should be welcomed with open arms, not treated as abhorrently as Jonas was all them years ago.

Hopefully this day will come. One day we will get our club back - which ultimately is what Newcastle Fans really want.
