A night in Turin - How an Italian fell in love!

It all started in 2003, in that year if you remember we played Champions League football in Turin and Milan, I was 8 years old. I am from Florence so my family is traditionally a Fiorentina fan and the major rivalry is the one with Juventus. I was at the game in Turin and even if we lost, Geordies are way louder than the bandwagon Juve fans.

I haven’t really played or understood anything about football in my life but the atmosphere Newcastle fans could create even in a strong minority made me fall in love with NUFC. So I decided to start following Newcastle and Shearer made me fall in love with football. (I only followed baseball as I have played it since the age of 6 until the age of 18 and that’s my main sport, but baseball only goes on summer so NUFC keeps my winters busy). I grew up trying to follow as much as possible via Sky and document myself on legends and history of the club until I turned 18 and I could made possible my long lifetime project to move to England just to improve my English, and I found a job in Leicestershire.

I had chance to travel to Leicester, London and Newcastle to watch few games, but before pandemic I had to move back to Italy because of my job and now I just wish to come back to watch a game (and maybe even live in Newcastle, who knows?) when possible. The things I love the most during my little visits in the Toon were Newcastle Brown Ale, but especially the pure passion and attachment from the fans to the club, and then oh Geordie people! You are my favourite in the whole of England! Super friendly and warm even if it’s cold! And I absolutely love your accent!

I also wanted to take the chance to congratulate Newcastle Fans TV for their massive channel! I only found it recently as I’m not a social media animal at all, I love the contents and the constant pieces of infos that NFTV give, they are doing a really great job!

Regarding our current situation, I am very faithful about the takeover happening but I don’t really trust Steve Bruce’s ego, even tho I think Graeme Jones is the key to be more creative and add some playbook in the offence, that’s what we lacked when Palace “parked the bus” recently. Thanks a lot for your time.

Howay the Lads!

Armando.
