Head to Head records: Away v Arsenal

Newcastle have lost their last seven matches at the Emirates Stadium. Hopefully the trend will discontinue this weekend. Picture courtesy of Prater.

Encounters between the Magpies and Gunners have coughed up many memorable moments in football as these two teams go a long way back in their respective histories.

It is safe to say that in recent history, Arsenal appear to have relished the chance to play against Newcastle despite them arguably no longer being the powerhouses they once were around the time of the 'Invincibles' era where the Gunners won two Premier League titles in three years including a campaign when they went a whole season unbeaten.

As far as this season is concerned, Newcastle would be delighted that the two teams are currently level on points with the side that was expected to finish in the top six at the start of the campaign, and a first for that to happen in the month of February since Sir Bobby Robson was in charge.

In terms of recent history in this fixture at Arsenal, Newcastle have never had a good record at the Emirates Stadium since it opened in 2006. From the club's 12 visits to the 60,000 capacity stadium, the Magpies have only come away with the win on one occasion, dating back to November 2010 when Andy Carroll scored the game's only goal just before half-time.
