Head to head records: Away v Leicester City

Ayoze Perez will (most likely) be making his first league appearance against Newcastle on Sunday following his summer move away from St. James' Park.

This is a fixture that Perez is no stranger to. He scored the winning goals for the Magpies in the last two meetings at the King Power Stadium, both of which gave Newcastle a huge boost in their survival bids to stave off the threat of relegation. Prior to the previous two meetings, Newcastle's recent record away at Leicester was really poor with the last win coming when the Foxes played at nearby Filbert Street in December 1999.

The two sides have already faced each other this season in the EFL Cup where a second string Newcastle side took a fairly strong Leicester side all the way to penalties. Unfortunately for Newcastle, Leicester won the shootout which resulted in Newcastle being knocked out of the EFL Cup 2nd round for a third consecutive year. However, the positive to take from that game was that, if a reserve team can do that against a full-strength Leicester side, imagine what a full-strength Newcastle side could do against them.

Regarding recent form, Leicester hold all the cards. Brendan Rodgers' side have only lost one of their last 11 games against teams outside the top six - the defeat coming against Newcastle in April (Rodgers' only home defeat as Leicester manager). Newcastle, on the other hand, need a win sooner rather than later to make up for the poor performance in the goalless draw at home to Brighton last weekend as well as Steve Bruce's side having some difficult fixtures coming up in facing Man United, Chelsea and Wolves in October.
