Head to head records: Away v Tottenham

Newcastle United go to Tottenham's new stadium for the first time on the back of two defeats to kick off the new campaign.

The last time Newcastle paid their first visit to a Premier League stadium was back in November 2006 in a 1-1 draw against Arsenal in the Gunners' first season at the Emirates Stadium.

The trip to Tottenham has certainly provided interesting encounters in recent history with the Magpies having never come away with a draw from the North London club since an FA Cup 3rd Round tie in December 1999. This shows that encounters between the two sides have never been short of goals with the last goalless draw coming in August 1971.

Prior to White Hart Lane's demolition, Newcastle won their last three games at the historic ground, the first of which saw Tim Krul defy the laws of physics and probabilities to win the game and the latter two saw Ayoze Perez score second half winners, the encounter in October 2014 saw the Spaniard score his first goal for the club. With the odds stacked against the black and whites on Sunday, there will be a hope that the ghost of White Hart Lane will be there to help the Magpies once more.

As for Spurs, they have come off the back of gaining a draw after coming from behind twice against Man City last weekend which is a great achievement. VAR however came to their rescue as Gabriel Jesus' last minute strike was eventually disallowed.
