Eligible to play for both England and Zimbabwe, Ndiweni possesses a fantastic right foot and a brilliant character. The local lad won a "local hero" award presented by the Evening Chronicle after not only standing up to racism but dealing with it, according to the citation, exemplary "maturity, dignity, understanding and compassion" involving a sympathetic form of conflict resolution.
The midfielder, also potentially capable of playing in defence, is from Throckley, to the west of the city, and is the latest in a long line of boys from the St Cuthbert's Roman Catholic school to join the St James' Park academy. His family support Newcastle United and his father coaches youth football in the region.
Ndiweni grabbed an assist and a goal in the opening game of the U18's league fixture against Leeds last month, the youngster turns 17 in early December - watch out for the name.
