New owners set expectations

Finally the news that a majority of the Newcastle fans have been waiting for, Mike Ashley has finally moved on from the club.

The journey in the past 14 years unde Mike Ashley has been a difficult one with two relegations and numerous controversial decisions along the way. Treatment of club legends has been extremely poor and top players being treated very harshly in their final days at the club was hard to watch. Incapable managers were given poor transfer budgets and the club's ambition every season was to only stay in the premier league which was not entertaining to watch as a fan. Treatment of the fans was abysmal, with poor football to watch for over a decade with only one good season which resulted in a top 5 finish about a decade ago. Other than that most seasons were poor with mostly bottom half of the table finishes. The new owners have shown from the press conference's that they want to build a healthy relationship with the Toon Army moving forward which is a promising sign for all Newcastle fans. We as fans can only hope that they keep their promise and treat the club with the respect that it deserves. Newcastle United is a club that holds a very special place in the heart of the Toon Army and harsh treatment from the boardroom directed at players ,managers and staff of the club who are held in high regard by the toon Army are seldom forgiven. We hope the clubs new owners treats the fans and club staff with the respect they deserve unlike the previous regime. As fans we would like the new owners to get the local heroes involved at some levels of the club the likes of Shearer,Keegan etc. Hopefully getting the feel good factor back at the club.

Living legends like Shearer, have to be given some role at the club which will help maintain the link with fans and the Hierarchy of the club. It is important to have people in the boardroom who are fans of the club and understand the expectations of the area. We as fans don't demand big signings of world class players. We would love it if we can build a team like Leicester, a team not full of superstars but a team that tries and works hard every game and respects the badge that they are playing for. Invest in the youth and training facilities.Although the signings of world class players is what any football club fan would want,it is no different at Newcastle. However,we would prefer good signings with the possibility of keeping hold of our best academy players.

We hope with the investment in the academy, we will have young players that will get the training to help them transition into the first team. The Toon Army would be delighted if one of the local lads is representing the club at first team level in a top quality squad. We hope the club is run in a financially balanced way and hope with excessive spending the club does not incur debt that may affect the future of the club. All we can do is hope that we finish this season at least in the top 7 of the league and have a brilliant January transfer window. Howay the lads!!!
