Alan Shearer: I would of loved a last minute winner at Old Trafford

“It would have been nice to score a last minute winner at the Stretford End at Old Trafford just give them a little bit back for all the abuse they gave me over the years. I always went into away games knowing I was going to get criticised of the fans and more so than ever with Manchester United fans but I took it as a sign of respect because fans never boo bad players.

“When you’re getting hammered, the result is going to get against you and you’re having a poor game yeah you’re conscious of most things but when you’re winning and playing free flowing football and full of confidence you’re not really aware of what’s going on at all.

“I could never do somersaults because of my knees or my back - I would have certainly come of the pitch injured and so it just started to work. Later in my career, the more people kept going on about the more determined I was not to change it. It was simple, effective and it worked - and I loved doing it."

There’s not a better feeling than scoring a goal. The adrenaline rush. I can’t begin to describe what it feels like.”
